By providing programs and services to bridge the gap between club and elite levels, we aim to assist athletes to develop to high levels of performance. We also strive to overcome disadvantages faced by regional athletes, such as fewer local resources and greater travelling distances.

The Academy conducts programs which optimise fitness and skills, improve responsiveness in competitive situations, and encourage a balance within the athlete's physical and personal development.

The Gippsland Sports Academy was launched in 1997 and has progressively built up the number of sports it supports. At present, there are 8 sports, with interest from other sports for future involvement.

Programs currently cover athletics, badminton, golf, squash. swimming, tennis and volleyball.

The Gippsland Sports Academy operates from premises at the Central Gippsland College of TAFE, at Newborough, but the programs themselves are decentralised as much as possible throughout the Gippsland region.
