Nominations for Gippstar Awards

Do you know of someone within the Gippsland region who has excelled in their chosen field of sport? If so, then why not nominate them for the prestigious Gippstar sporting awards?

The Gippstar Awards are designed to recognise sporting excellence of Gippsland's sportsmen and sports women, amateur or professional, of any age.

Awards also acknowledge sporting teams and, in the Special Achievers category, outstanding coaches, umpires, administrators and other club people.

Awards and categories:

• Senior Monthly Award
• Junior Monthly Award
• Senior Annual Award
• Junior Annual Award
• Team Annual Award
• Special Achiever Annual Award

Monthly Award winners are announced early in the following month.

Annual Awards are announced in July of each year. They consider performances in the preceding 12 months, that is, from July in the previous year to June in the present year.

Nomination and selection information:

• To be eligible for the Junior Award, athletes must be aged under 18 by the 31st December that year.
• Nominees must reside in Gippsland for 6 months of the year. In the case of a junior, this applies to their guardian.
• Nominations can be made for professional or amateur athletes.
• Nominations can be made for local, state, national, or international achievements.
• Monthly Senior and Junior Awards are based on best performances in each calendar month.
• Senior and Junior Annual Award winners will be selected from the successful Monthly Award winners.
• Nominations for Monthly Awards (ie, Senior and Junior Awards) must be received by the first working day of the following month.
• Nominations for the Teams and Special Achievers Awards should be submitted as close as possible after the date of achievement.
