Isabella Lia of Traralgon is the Junior Gippstar Award Winner for April. Isabella received bronze at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in the U17 High Jump event in Sydney, having to either medal at State Championships or meet qualifying standards to attend. She also achieved silver at the Victoria Junior Athletics Championships, and broke the Traralgon little athletics in U16 High Jump. Awesome work Isabella.
The April Open Gippstar Award winner was Aislin Jones of Lakes Entrance. Aislin achieved a new junior qualifying world record at the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is currently ranked 31st in the world in the Open competition. Aislin recently competed at the Australian National Championships at Echuca. Over two days, and two events (the Australian Commonwealth Championship, and the Australian National Championship,) Aislin finished with the Gold Medal and national championship title in both, in addition to taking out the overall national high gun (overall championship.) 17 years old at the time, Aislin is only the third women to win all three titles at a national championship. She is also the youngest to have done so. She remains number one ranked in Australia in ISSF Women’s Skeet, and represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games in April. Well done Aislin.
