GIPPSTAR – JULY WINNERS

The July Junior Gippstar Award Winner is Ashley Nicholes of Traralgon for his achievements in his sport of Swimming.  Ashley has had a busy couple of months having competed in the Victorian Country Swimming Championships in Ballarat, Victorian State Championships in Melbourne, Australian Schools Championships in Queensland and at SC Nationals in Sydney. Overall he won a total of 8 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals, broke 6 In and Out of Gippsland Country records and finalled at SC Nationals.

The July Open Gippstar Award Winner is Yasmin Duursma of Foster for her achievements in her sport of Australian Rules Football Women (AFLW). Yasmin, an Australian Rules football left-footer, was selected by Port Adelaide as its fifth Pick (45 overall) at the recently held 2022 NAB AFLW Draft. Yasmin had a break-out performance at the Under 18 National Championships for Victoria Country, culminating in the final match where she collected 22 disposals, five marks, four tackles, and six rebound 50’s with 85% kicking efficiency. Yasmin has real strength in her endurance and ability to keep running, which contributed significantly to her selection.
