Each new squad commences with an Induction Day, in which the squad members get to know each other and are orientated with details of their sport's program.

Major features of each program are listed in the Academy's Calendar.

The Gippsland Sports Academy runs programs across 10 sports. The programs may vary from year to year, as required to meet the skills requirements of squad members, additional resources becoming available, and competition schedules.

Squad programs run across their competitive season, which means a unique timing for each sport. Successful squad members graduate at the end of each training year and a new squad is established for the following season.

Each sport is managed by a program advisory committee which works with the coaches to ensure that the program's resources are effectively used.

There are athlete fees in each of the sports programs, but the support of our program sponsors helps to keep them to a reasonable level. Some athletes seek the support of Friends of the Academy to cover their fees. A Friend of the Academy is a sponsor, obtained by the athlete, who will meet some or all of an athlete's costs.

Sponsors support programs by covering costs for the program's coaching and other expenses.
