Swimming Program
Swimming was one of the first sports to be included in the Gippsland Sports Academy. It is by far the most successful, with many athletes competing at state and national level competitions. ![]() Coaches at a training session The swimming program owes much of its success to the highly accredited satellite coaches who in the beginning worked under the guidance of Mentor Coach, Dr Ralph Richards. One of Dr Richard's regular contributions has been the use of underwater filming to enable technique analysis, improvement and monitoring. As you would appreciate technology allows improvements to the performance of swimmers and in the more technically demanding events athlete’s performance gains have proved to be quite significant. The program also places a strong emphasis on strength and conditioning and the ability to maintain full control without the loss of swimming technique. The Swimming Program is proudly sponsored by the Morwell Bowling Club who have just announced their intention to continue on with the program for another three years and continues to be supported by Gippsland Swimming ensuring the sport and the program are progressing with the best intentions for all involved.
