The January Junior Gippstar Award Winner is Jake Perrett of Lakes Entrance for his sport of Track and Field. Jake competed at the Victorian Country Championships in Bendigo over the Australia Day Weekend. Competing for the Wellington Athletics Club, Jake had an outstanding competition. As a para athlete, and being 12 years old he has to compete in U/16 as there is no younger age groups for para athletes at this level. Jake walked away with 3 gold medals in para 100m, shot put and discus. He also competed in able bodied U/14 200m and came home with a bronze medal. Well done Jake!
The January Open Gippstar Award winner is Aislin Jones of Lakes Entrance for her achievement in Skeet shooting. Aislin competed at the Australian Clay Target Association ISSF National Championships in January. Combined scores from Commonwealth & National Championships (Ev. 1 & 2) determined Overall National Championship. Her combined score of 239/250 included a 121/125 (3 targets higher than the Junior Women’s World Record) and 118/125 (equal Junior Women’s World Record) and saw her defeat the entire field. She also took out the junior, Women’s and Open National Overall Championship. Winning 6 out of 7 contested National Titles plus Open AA Grade in the National Championship. Well done Aislin!
