Congratulations to Tanarly Hood from Traralgon for her achievements in the sport of Basketball who is our Gippstar May “Open” Award Winner. Big V Basketball conducted its second annual Origin All Star Series Women’s and Men’s Competitions on June 10, 2017, at the Casey Indoor Leisure Centre. Players were chosen by a competition Panel, who identified outstanding individuals to take part in this yearly event. Tanarly was selected in the Victorian Country Team based on her outstanding performances with Latrobe City Energy Division I team.

The Gippstar May “Junior” Award Winner is Ben Burchell from Bairnsdale for the sport of ISSF Skeet Shooting who competed at ACTA ISSF Nationals 2017 in Perth. Ben won the Junior Commonwealth ISSF Skeet Championship, Junior National ISSF Skeet Championship, and the Junior National ISSF Skeet High Gun and Luigi Franchi Perpetual trophy.  Due to Ben’s dedication to ISSF Skeet shooting and his scores at the National Titles in January, he was invited to join 12 other Junior athletes in the Australian Junior  Shotgun team to compete in the International  Junior Shot Gun Grand Prix of Germany in Suhl.  The team was accompanied by Olympian and 2016 August Gippstar winner Keith Ferguson.

June nominations for Gippstar will close on 12th July 2017.
